… at the Crossroads

Centuries ago, on the hills high above the crossing of the Cobbossee Stream and Kennebec River, entrepreneurs and workmen alike built their homes, great and small, on Gardiner’s peaceful, tree-lined streets. While the past industries of the Cobbossee are no longer with us, new entrepreneurs have comfortably taken their place. And the stable, historic neighborhoods on those lovely tree-lined streets survive and thrive.

Since Gardiner’s founding in 1754, our community has evolved and kept pace with the times… but has never lost its original values of integrity, family and creativity. In recent years Gardiner has become home to people seeking the charm and comfort of previous eras, yet the dynamics of a progressive community where there is plenty of room to make a difference.

This is a community that proudly values education, arts and culture, and reflects that pride in colorful festivals, performances and events throughout the year. Our population is a healthy cross-section of families and young singles, service and office workers, creative and high-tech professionals. All sharing a unique sense of community spirit, and a positive anticipation of what the future has in store…at the crossroads.
